An ongoing series depicting smoking women (and a man) shot at night.
The series began with a shot of my sister that I took in the desert lit only by a small flashlight. The long exposure allowed to bring out the cigarette light and the night stars as bright holes in the photograph but also allowed me to use the flashlight to highlight different areas of the picture and "paint" the subject. It also meant that the subject could not move for a long period of time eliminating any short time expressions.
